Refurbish and Remodel of the Modern Beach Shack
This Peppy Beach project saw the team transform a dated coastal property into a resilient beachside masterpiece. The client, with a keen eye for detail and a background in architecture, purchased the home a few years ago. Perched in an extreme weather zone, the property faced an early setback when a storm blew off the balcony roof shortly after acquisition — providing the catalyst for a complete overhaul.
Architecturally designed by Studio Atelier, the vision focused on durability, luxury, and seamless indoor-outdoor living. We at MarkB Building executed the build onsite to the highest standards, ensuring every element could withstand the coastal elements while delivering timeless elegance.
Structural Overhaul for Coastal Resilience
The renovation began with a full gut and strip, stripping the home back to its core to rebuild with precision and longevity in mind. Key structural works included:
- Replacing the balcony roof with a robust, storm-resistant design engineered to endure extreme weather
- Upgrading foundations and framing to meet modern building codes
- Installing double-glazed windows throughout for enhanced insulation and noise reduction
This foundational rebuild not only addressed the property’s vulnerabilities but also set the stage for a high-end finish that prioritises safety and sustainability.
Elevating Interiors and Amenities for Luxury Living
Once structurally secure, we expanded and refined the layout to create a 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom retreat tailored for family and guests. Highlights of the interior and exterior enhancements include:
- Fully ducted air conditioning for year-round comfort
- Two fireplaces — one indoor for cosy evenings and one outdoor for entertaining
- A separate kids’ games room designed for fun and functionality
- An outdoor kitchen with premium fittings, ideal for beachside gatherings
- Direct footpath access to the beach, enhancing the property’s prime location
